Fords Unlimited Events: Looking Ahead at 2011
On a very cold and snowy January evening, our new board of directors hit the ground running with a long evening of planning our clubs' upcoming year. Listed below are our basic plans for our club events. Some are subject to change.
All these events are Points Events so if you want to be competitive, you can start making your plans soon. As events are finalized, we will post dates, times, locations and other relevant details. More events may be added at a later date.
February
This month starts our events with a trip to Gateway Classic Cars. For details of this event, please click here
March
As of press time, we were working on a event for the month. If all goes well, we will be doing Demo Ball again. If we can get this event set, we will have details posted soon.
April
Last year, we attended an all Ford car display that was held at the Museum of Transportation. This year the event will be held on the 3rd and we will again attend. We are looking into attending the Shelbyfest that is held in Hermann, Mo. This is a 3 day event but the car show is held on the 30th.
May
We will again be heading to Elsberry Missouri for the Classics on Wheels Car Show. That event will be held on May 7th. On the 21st, we will be going on a real cruise to Crane's Country Store, which is about an hour west on Highway 70 near Williamsburg. We will post all of those details as soon as they come available. This may be a three club event and we will be guests of the Show-Me Mustang Club.
June
We are also planning to do Go Kart races in St. Charles and follow that up by attending the JJ's cruise, making it a full day. We are shooting for a June 11th date. We have 2 events on the same weekend so you have a choice. The Mustang Club of St. Louis Car Show will be held on June 18th at the Museum of Transport and for those who want to travel, we have a trip to Tulsa Oklahoma for the Mid-America Shelby Meet held June 15th through the19th.
July
Club member Bill Bufka is working on setting up our Blue Cruise. This was a very successful event last year. We will again attend the Southern Illinois Mustang Association's all Ford Car Show in mid month. The most important event of the year will be held on the last weekend of the month. On the Saturday, we will hold our goody bag stuffing and BBQ followed the next day by our 25th annual Car Show.
August
Although we have no set date, we will be attending and the St. Anthony's Car Show. We will post that date as soon as we get info on that show.
September
This is a very busy month for our club. We will be attending Wheels in Motion Day at Westport Plaza. This event raises funds for kids with cancer. We will also attend the Show-Me Mustang Club's car show although we are also unsure of the date and location.
October
Always a popular event, we will be looking for ideas for our Fall Color Tour/Picnic. We may be heading it Illinois this time.
November
We normally don't have any activities other than the usual meetings. This year we are looking into doing a winery tour. Several locations have been suggested and we hope to make a final decision soon.
December
With the holiday season being so busy, the only thing planned is our usual Toy Drive shopping and delivery to Dave Sinclair Ford.
