Our 23rd annual car show was an outstanding success. On a beautiful July Sunday with temps only in the mid-eighties, we had our second largest show with 274 vehicles in attendance. The swap meet was one of our largest and the food and drink lines were busy all day. Thanks to our chairman, Jim Biermann and our hard working car show committee, we looked like a well oiled machine. Even with 46 classes, many classes were very large with our Muscle Mustang entries totaling 94 Mustangs. Our 50-50 drawing set a record also with $1,100 collected and $550 going to the winner. This year we tried something different with plaques resembling a license plates replacing trophies and this change proved very successful. The show shirts looked great and sold out fast. As usual, the Fairlane Club of America Midwest Mini-Meet again drew many outstanding Fairlanes and Torinos. George and Tom Adams make this part of our show look so good. The event brings out many of our members that we don’t see often plus so many friends from other clubs. As usual, we could not succeed without so many of our family members and friends volunteering to help us. The success of our show is due to the hard work of so many of our members from selling sponsorships to getting goodie bag items and attendance prizes and everything in-between. Thanks to all who helped with the set-up, manning the show parking, filling in where needed and staying around for the cleanup. With the sponsorship of Dave Sinclair Ford and our longtime loyal and new sponsors, we would not be able to have the quality show that we have come to expect each year. Now we can relax for a short time and enjoy our success but in a week or so we will start over with our planning of our 24th annual car show to be held in 2010. Stay tuned! |
